Vacheron Constantin Unveils First Overseas Minute Repeater
Vacheron Constantin has officially added a new level of technical mastery to its highly coveted Overseas collection with the unveiling of the Overseas Grand Complication Openface—the first model in the lineup to feature a minute repeater.
This horological marvel is powered by the Calibre 2755 QP, a hand-wound movement first introduced in 2005. Composed of 602 components, the movement is just 7.9 mm thick and boasts a 58-hour power reserve. In addition to its minute repeater—a feature that chimes the time on demand—the watch also includes a perpetual calendar (with day, date, month, and leap year indicators accurate until 2100) and a tourbillon, showcasing Vacheron’s commitment to grand complications.
A key innovation is the brand’s proprietary centripetal regulator, which ensures that the repeater’s chimes are delivered at perfectly timed intervals for a crisp and harmonious sound. Developing water resistance was another major technical hurdle, due to the repeater’s side-activated slide mechanism. Vacheron invested 1.5 years of R&D to make the titanium case water-resistant up to 30 meters, a significant achievement for such a complex timepiece.
Visually, the watch is stunning. Housed in a 44.5 mm x 13.1 mm grade 5 titanium case, it features sapphire crystal on both the front and back, offering an unobstructed view of the intricate movement. The hour markers and subdial hands are made of 18K white gold, while the hour and minute hands glow with blue Super-Luminova. The timepiece comes with a titanium bracelet, and two interchangeable straps—blue alligator leather and blue rubber.
Since its debut in 1996, the Overseas collection has stood as a symbol of refined adventure and technical prowess. With the Grand Complication Openface, Vacheron Constantin has elevated the collection to new heights, merging sporty luxury with elite watchmaking expertise. The watch will be available in limited production, with pricing available upon request.
